Our Story

Rugby is alive and growing right here in Campbell River!

The Campbell River Athletic Association Rugby Club has been part of our community for more than 40 years, helping players of all ages learn the game, build confidence, and make lifelong friends.

There’s a place for everyone in Campbell River Rugby — from exciting, non-contact Mini Rugby for kids, to fast-paced Junior and Adult Touch Rugby for all ages. And we’re rebuilding toward full senior men’s and women’s teams, carrying on the proud tradition of competitive rugby in our community.

CRAA Rugby also partners with local schools like Carihi, Timberline, and area middle schools — and we’re excited to help introduce Mini Rugby in elementary schools across the district.

Our club is community-driven and volunteer-run, so whether you want to play, coach, volunteer, or sponsor, there’s a place for you.

Play Rugby. Play Campbell River!”

CRAA Code of Conduct

Respect • Inclusion • Safety • Sportsmanship

We are committed to providing a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where every participant can enjoy rugby, build skills, and feel valued.

Core Values

  • Respect & Inclusion: Treat everyone with dignity. We welcome all backgrounds and abilities. Discrimination, bullying, or exclusion will not be tolerated.

  • Safety & Integrity: Prioritize physical and emotional well-being. Act honestly and take accountability for your actions.

Player Expectations

  • Respect the Game: Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, and officials with respect. Use positive, inclusive language.

  • Play Smart: Listen to instructions, play safely within the rules, and manage your emotions (no aggressive outbursts).

  • Be a Team Player: Encourage your teammates and take a break from play when asked.

Parent & Spectator Expectations

  • Lead by Example: Model respectful behavior, encourage all players equally, and promote good sportsmanship.

  • Support the Crew: Respect coaches and referees. Address any concerns calmly and privately.

  • Behavior Support: Help coaches manage behavior if your child is overwhelmed or needs to step away from play.

Coach Expectations

  • Players First: Show equal respect to all players. Ensure practices are safe, positive, and educational.

  • Duty of Care: Keep essential safety gear (water, first aid, shelter) at all games. Report injuries and gear requirements to the Board.

  • Communication: Address player concerns with parents first. Escalate unresolved issues to the Board.

Accountability & Consequences

To ensure a safe environment for everyone, non-compliance will be addressed progressively:

  1. Warning

  2. Removal from the practice or game (player and/or parent)

  3. Suspension from club activities

> Note: Serious safety violations may result in immediate removal from the club.
